Based on what you've told me anything will do. But I would strongly try to get a laptop with an integrated network card. Mainly because hotspots are everywhere. I mean you can get one without one but you would need to purchase a wireless PCMCIA card and stick it in the PCMCIA slot. But right now is the best time to purchase a laptop because I beleive walmart will have laptops on sale day after thankgiving for 200....

ok goto PC world or the like.
get a laptop that has:
2 to 3 Ghz Processor.
1 gig ram.
60 gig harddrive.
cb burner / dvd
windows XP.
should set you back MAX £450
unless you want it for game, in witch case stick to desktop machines. that will be perfect.
also try get one with MS office on it that might cost a bit though.

MacBook Pro is the best, but, you don't need to spend that much for your needs. Buy a good used laptop that you can try out to see if you like it.
