At 7.5 weeks mine was 3.5 inches across, including everything (the sac, etc.) The heartbeat was over 150 bpm.

I am surprised they didn't see it. Did they do a transvaginal ultrasound, where they stick the mircophone-looking thing INSIDE of you? They did that for my first ultrasound. Its easier to see everything that way. They can see more from inside, in other words.

Yes I do. Because I book appointments in a place that does ultrasounds, and usually it is because they had a first ultrasound and could not determine if the pregnancy was viable...(meaning the baby was alive or even there) and had to have the patient back to reassess viability. Usually they will not indicate this to the patient at the risk of freaking them out and will instead opt to do another u/s to make sure the pregnancy is viable.

With all three of my children, i had ultrasounds between 8-10 weeks and saw the baby just fine. It was a transvaginal (internal) ultrasound though, not an external one.

By 8 weeks they should be able to see and hear the heartbeat. Maybe you are not as far along as you thought, and the high numbers could indicate twins. I saw and heard my son's heartbeat with a normal ultra sound at 6.5 weeks.

I had my first ultrasound at 10 weeks. The baby was very small. You definitely can't tell the sex that early, but should be able to see the heartbeat.

With hCG levels that high, they should see something. but more importantly, have doctors heard a fetal heartbeat?

They should see a sac and yolk at minimum. I would not be overly concerned, but keep that on your radar. The pregnant lady needs to relax and not worry.

AAaaaw, how sweet the little ones are!

Fetuses have their "parts" at six weeks after conception, but they are not recognizable or detectable through an ultrasound until around 16 to 20 weeks. It took me until week 22 to find out that I was having a little girl because she would not uncross her legs for the sonographer!

Ultrasounds don't really show much till about the 16th week, I thought.
