its a bag? like a back pack except its sqaure and it has one strap that you put on your shoulders i forgot what its called. you can use it as a back pack or a purse.

Yes, a messenger bag is like a purse, but is shaped so that binders and books fit in it appropriately. It is often slung over one shoulder and your neck, so that it can hang in front or in back.
It's a great alternative to a backpack, if you don't have too many books to carry around.
