I think not. My mother used to say,'Oh, horsefeathers!' That was the closest she ever came to swearing. Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane.

Not sure, but a horse can be of a different feather.
"Of" means "multiplied by", so horses being multiplied by feathers.
Feathers are a fertility mechanism for horses, apparently. And that doesn't help at all, now, does it.

The only kind of horse I know of that could have feathers would be Pegasus the flying horse, but it doesn't exist.
