OK seriously this is what you need to do, I'm a hoopologist...since you are new to this great game you need to work on fundamentals 1st. ...always work on your off hand the most, as far as dribbling and shooting lay ups, also work on what you do best, whether its is shooting from a particular spot on the floor or jumping high...I would suggest taking at least 100 shots a day, and soon you will get a feel for the basket...shoot 50 lay ups from the left side with your left hand and 50 more from the right side with your right. Do this everyday or as much as you get a chance to, and you should start to improvement with your game in no time.

Always work on your grounders. Take a tennis ball and get about 8-10 feet away from a wall. Then without moving, keep rolling the ball on the ground to the wall and back harder every time.

Playing catch will help you the most. You also need to work on fly balls and grounders, but play catch as much as you can. When you play catch, do it from all different positions like standing, kneeling, sitting etc. These drills will help with arm strength and accuracy. Try the site listed in sources, they have plenty of drills to help you.

Dribble A LOT! and shoot A LOT! you can sit in a chair and dribble the ball back and forth under your legs and then side to side. To shoot: put your dominate hand's thumb on your forehead. Then with the ball in hand (at your forehead) jump and shoot. that's the correct form
