Myself I do not believe in an eye for an eye and I think that it would humiliate him far more is he were sent to Coventry for the rest of his life (figuratively speaking). He would not then become a Martyr to the cause.
However, on the other side of the coin, if he lives there will be no closure for either the families of the people that were tortured and put to death under his cruel regime. Or even his own followers, they need to have fresh hopes and look toward the future (which will take centuries) and whilst he is alive they have no hope of reconciliation.

Poor Saddam -- I don't think I've ever heard him spoken of quiet that way. I also don't think he would thank you for referring to him in that way. I believe he has such a sociopathic personality that even now he thinks he was a "benevolent" ruler whom everyone adored and worshiped. Those he believed did not do this were tortured in ways most of us cannot conceive of or understand. Our citizens have never been exposed to this kind of behavior from our leaders.
Anyway --- His countries citizens have found him guilty and handed down both a verdict and a punishment. We at this point must allow Iraq to make their own choices. I believe they have shown him a tremendous amount of mercy. It is Iraq's right to put him to death by hanging. It is not our right to decide for them.

He was sentenced by his own people. He put 130 people to death, and did not ask for their few year of peace. We are in
war, for this man - Gulf War and Iraq, because he was arrogant to the inspectors with hiding weapons. He invaded Kuwait. You either are too young to know history, or did not learn it in school. Get an education for yourself and sign up for world history 101.

Well, we live in a "civilized" society. He did a lot to others. A lot of nasty stuff. He deserves to pay. If they put him in jail he'll try to get out at any cost, and he's got followers. On top of that somebody's got to pay for his 30 or so years in jail. Multiply that by the money paid per day per each criminal. A lot to think about. they just want to get rid of somebody that does not give humanity anything good....

He didnt let any of his victims live in peace. Most of them were tortured or killed. My personal opinion is that hanging is wrong - however give him a Lethal Injection.

Yeah, poor guy. He was just a good ol' boy havin' a bit of fun. Why can't they just leave that ol' boy alone? So what if he had thousand of people tortured and killed?

I am assuming you are trying to wind everybody up. Let him rot in prison with no media attention. Hopefully everyone will forget he is there.

Never show mercy to tyrants, the only sympathy he can get is to get a life sentence instead of the death penalty he got. When he was in power, he never treated the citizens in good faith.

My ****! He should be thrown to the relatives of all the people he tortured and murdered. He'll get the peace he deserves when he's rotting in hell.
