okay so i have this hard little lump on my right side of my labia, it doesnt hurt much, i went to the gynocologist last friday and she said it was a cyst, ( she said it was from a hair follicle that never grew out ) now my question is have any of you ever had a cyst down there, and if so did it ever go away on its own or did you have to get it drained by the doctor, i know it sounds gross but it can happen to anyone (the doctor said to only go back if it starts to hurt)

Sebaceous cysts in areas where hair grows are not at all uncommon. It may go away on its own, but it also will most likely never cause you any trouble other than you knowing it is there. Here is a link to info about it: http://womenshealth.about.com/cs/dermatology/a/sebaceouscyst.htm

I've never had one before, but it sounds like a serious matter, and I would suggest getting a second opinion. Cysts usually are solid, so if yours has fluid in it, it could be an infection, and those are nasty things indeed. Cysts also tend to metastasize (grow) rather than shrink, if they change size at all. Not to scare you, but that single cyst could be an STD or possibly cancerous. So I would definitely go to another doctor and get a second opinion, and probably get it removed just in case.

It sounds like you may have Bartholin's cysts. Check out the website I reference below. There is a lot of info there about them. But please know, it does not sound anything like cancer. Bartholin's cysts often are reoccurring. I don't think you have anything to be too worried about.

more likely it's an inflammed Bartholin's gland. Hot compresses will make it drain if it is. I've had them once or twice, and I would not wait for it to hurt before treating it.

i had one of those and it was nothing to worry about. when i finally got it to open, it did not have a liquid in it, but a very hard to describe substance--almost a powder.
