My fiance and I was coming home one evening from seeing a movie.I wasn't paying attention and kept on walking on.My fiance found a wallet on the ground and asked me if this was my wallet.I told him "no it wasn't".When we was inside,I opened the wallet and there was no drivers license,no credit cards,no pictures like you normally see.I was checking other pockets and I had encountered a stack of $100 bills.I was shocked to see all of this.I pulled it out and started to count the money.Total it was $1100 withno id, no phone number. My first reaction was"OH MY GOD,I am rich!".My fiance being the good Samaritan like he was told me we should call the police and explain we found a wallet that has 11-$100 bills.I called down to the police station and the officer who I spoke to told us he would be up in a half hour.He showed up to our apartment, asked us some questions where we found the wallet, if there was any identification,ect..He retrieve the wallet and told us if no one does not claim a wallet in 30 days, the money will be ours.21 days passed and someone came down and claimed the wallet. The recipient asked who found the wallet and the person did not call us to give a Thank you..I didn't care if we didn't get no reward, but a simple thank you would had been nice.. In this case, I would return the wallet with the license and money only because it is that persons property

Wow.......highly ethical question and I like it.
Hmmm....the little devil on my right shoulder says take the cash, but at least mail the person their passport and driver's license.
But, the little angel on the left side, would say to return the whole thing, and get 15 minutes of fame on the evening news.
Maybe that would turn in to some lucrative situation worth more than two grand and the satisfaction that people may have a little hope in humanity restored.
Gosh, okay, now help me down from soapbox, will ya? :)

Take the money toss the rest but I'm not the best person in the world, however if I were the person who lost it I would like to at least get my license, passport back it would be nice to get the money back but it would be better than nothing. If it has 2 grand it's probably a drug dealers so karma may let you pass if you keep it.

Return the full amount to the owner. What other choice is there?
Of course, I'm the woman who returns a dime if I'm given the wrong change at the grocery store... really annoys my hubby!

I would have to return it as is. Karma has a way of coming back around.
Besides...how happy and surprised would you make that person. I'm sure they are not expecting to ever see their wallet or money again. You might even get a reward.

Turn it into the police, regardless if there is i.d. in it or not. I found a bank envelope with $200.00 in it at a gas station once, turned it into the police with where I found it and told the gas station manager what I did. After 2 months it was mine because it wasn't claimed. I would hope that if I misplaced that kind of money someone would be kind enough to turn it in.

Send it to the address on the drivers license and forget about it. The items you described are not mine so I return them to the only owner I can find.
It would be against my nature as a Christian and a minister to do otherwise.

Turn everything in. If I found a wallet with no ID and $2000, I would keep it.

I would probably take the money (If I was sure it was good money) because I have heard of a case where someone turned in money that was lost and in turn was sued because the owner clamed that he lost a lot more money than was turned in, As I heard it, It even cost him Lawyer and court costs???? That would really kick me in the pants. Good Luck in whatever your decision is.
