Hi Gizmo,
These are all products of the relationship of various times to one hour or 60 minutes. You can prove this by:
.25y=15mins
y= 15mins/.25
y=60mins
Therefore, putting the 60 where it belongs and the new unknown value becoming the y, the equation for your question is:
y(60)=40
y=40/60
40 minutes divided by the 60 will yield the ratio in fractional form:
40/60 or 2/3
Change it to decimal:
2/3=.6666666 repeating
and since all formulas show two decimal places, round to .67.

TRUST ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SO MUCH SIMPLER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
to get the digits after the decimal
mult the mins by 2
then subtract 1/3 of the original minutes i.e.
15min x 2 = 30
- 5 = 25 which becomes .25 after the decimal point
30 min x 2 = 60
-10 = 50 becoming .50
45min x 2 = 90
-15 = 75 becoming .75
40 min x 2 =80
-13.3 = 66.7 becoming .67

well, it sounds like 1.0 will be 60mins, if .50 = 30mins, and etc. 40 mins is going to be a ratio of 40/60 which is 2/3. That is a decimal number that never ends, it is 0.6666666..... etc, but 2/3 is an exact number.
