Most of the suckermouth cats (plecostomus, loricarids and ancistrus) are opportunistic feeders and will eat anything edible that is on the bottom of the tank. Very small fish resting on the bottom at night can become victims. Baby fish (fry) are especially vulnerable just after being born or hatching because they are not mobile for a while.

I would not trust one in a breeding tank. Large snails are better scavengers for fry tanks. I do have the ancistrus variety in almost all of my tanks, however, they are hard workers and do not get very large (5-6" tops). They are also called bushynosed or bristlenosed plecos.

Some of the harder to find suckermouths are actually carnivores and do not eat algae at all. They look for and consume snails, larvae and insects in the water.

The males are very good parents where their own fry are concerned and will go for a couple of weeks without eating while tending the eggs and the fry after they hatch.

I have a pleco and guppies in the same tank. <--25 gal (plecos need lots of room, not sure why they do, they sure don't move a whole lot.)
Your fish should be fine.
They'll suck on dead bodies, but I've never seen em' attack.
