Yeah, Epiphone makes good guitars. I would buy one, if I was interested in a Les Paul. I can't imagine paying 3,000 for a Gibson. I'd go for the Epiphone. From ten feet away, no one will know the difference.

They're not too bad to start out on. I havent looked an an epiphone in a VERY long time, but I remember my first guitar was an epiphone and it was ok for a few years then really started giving me trouble.. going out of tune, wouldnt keep a setup (neck adjustment).. but if ur a begninner give it a try then move up to something higher quality when you improve!

If it's in good shape, go for it ! Check the action - you should be able to make it sound off clearly without putting too much pressure on the strings when you hit notes. Many famous musicians play a Les Paul, including Sammy Hagar!
