The best answer that I have heard (and in my personal experience) about a year. That's why they recommend that you don't start a new relationship for a least a year, in order to give yourself time to greive and heal sufficiently that you don't fall into old patterns.

Wow, loaded question. My 1st marriage, to my highschool bf, he left after 10 yrs., had an affair and married 2 more times, just died last year. I've been remarried, very happily, for 16 yrs. and still have a hard time reconciling that divorce, it's worse than death. See someone and get your issues resolved BEFORE you start dating someone else and combine the baggage. You'll know when the time is right. I hope.

Divorced ...married one year after that and have been married for the last three years now. Some say It was quick but it doesnt take me long to make up my mind about something. It's over then its over. when it is time to move on...you move on. Find someone new, don't waste your life away feeling sorry for yourself. There will be someone out there deserving of you.

Only you knows your heart and mind as to when you will be ready. It takes some people forever to get over someone, where others in a matter of weeks. I do know , you need to take your time and make sure you are over your wife, before you take on a serious relationship. This does not mean you can't date, but just make sure you don't think of your wife all the time. It's not easy to go thru, but each day is one day closer to getting over her. Remember the saying where one door closes another opens. and it will... Good luck...

As soon as you're ready to sped time with someone else and NOT talk about your ex, to have a few laughs, to focus on this new person, to get to know HER then you are probably ready. If you spend the entire time comparing the two, wishing you were with your ex-wife, wanting to call her every time you've been out on a date then you still have some work to do. It's not about time - it's about how you feel. Anything less isn't fair to your date, to your ex or to you.

Well, my husband left me after 17 years,. although this isn't my first rodeo. Seems he likes having mulitiple "mid-life crises". there are periods of sadness and lonliness and sometimes it really sucks. Keep busy, stay in touch with people who you like to be around, and when the time is right, you'll know. Good luck, my best wishes go out to you....

Each person is totally different, some date before the divorce is even final, like it appears is your wife's case. When you are ready to date again you will know it and will be ready for it.

I would wait awhile, get yourself together and make yourself happy. I have been divorced for 10 years and have made it through. Involve yourself in a hobby , it will be productive for yourself. Good luck !
