The Bora is known in the US as a Jetta and is equipped with the 2.8 V6. The Golf can be equipped with the same engine as an option and since it is a much lighter vehicle would be the faster of the two. However the Bora name which was borrowed from Volkswagen's acquisition of Maserati was a very fast car and it is a shame they used in on a pig Jetta.

I have a 1999 Ford Mustang. Its a V6, so naturally i wanted more power. I put in a K&N High Flow air filter, and a true dual exhaust system. I also included high performance wires and a PCV condenser. The general rule for modifying is what you do to one end, you must do to the other. With a higher flowing exhaust, you can push more air through your engine. In order to do this, you must allow more air to enter your engine, hence the high flowing filter. With these 2 upgrades TOGETHER I noticed quite an improvement. It does however depend on your driving habit/goals. These upgrades bring you higher RPM HP. You gain little HP with the intake for low end, but actually lose low end power with a more open exhaust do to less back pressure. The best thing to do would be to couple these mods with a good quality tuner such as BAMA brand. If you have a modern car, its fairly optimized already from the dealer. You can use a tuner to lean it out a little, as they are normally tuned a little rich for safety. Other than that, the tuner is used to enhance new parts, not so much the old. One last tip (as this is long enough of an answer ;] ) take a look at your MAS, Mass AirFlow Sensor. This sensor it what enables your ECU to adjust your Air/Fuel ratio. The better this ratio is, the more performance and MPG you will have. Good Luck
