Are you sure this is the exact message? Normally it is something like

"a computer is trying to access your computer"
or
"your computer is trying to access the Internet on port 1027"

It is hard to tell what is going on without the exact message. The computer is giving you a warning about your computer trying to do something like get your mail, go to a website, etc. or about another computer trying to connect to yours. If you can give more information maybe we can help.

Please you don't say what firewall program that you are using.

A firewall if this is your first installation, as to be programmed to know what ports you want to allow or deny for incoming an outgoing packets of information.

When you see the pop up, if you are using ZoneAlarm, there will be a detailed explanation with the pop-up. You will want to check of "allow", and "remember". Now when you open say, IE, or MSN, the firewall will rember your said to allow. You have to do this for every program that you have installed that will recive download of data or send outgoing data.

The data is recived via ports. Your firewall will protect you from the bad ports that are used for sending trojans, virus etc. etc.

If the pop up is "RED", you really want to think about what you want to do. As "RED", usually means the port is dangerous.

After you have educated your firewall as to what you will allow or deny. Your firewall will work for you on an automatic basis to block out all rogue ports.

You will not see anymore popup.

Every new program you download the firewall again will pop up an ask you for allow or deny. All part of educating your firewall.

Hope the above is of help to you as my english is not good.

IF you are using McAfee Security center of some other sescurity software, it is simply warning you of incomming connection of which some may be from hackers. There must be a link that says "turn of this type of alert" or something. Does that help.
