I guess it was like achieving happiness like nirvana... remember she was the governor's daughter and she wanted an adventurous life outside of the palace walls... remember her lover told her about that mountain that if you made a wish and jumped off it would come true... and maybe she felt guilt for lee mu bai when he got killed.. who knows...

I think she felt guilty for all the trouble she caused.
