Are you diabetic, overweight, have heart conditions, or other medical conditions? It could a problem with circulation. Is there any pain with the numbness? Pain with movement? Is there voluntary movement of the digit? Basically, it could be caused by a lot of things, or something simple like cold feet causing decreased circulation (Decreased circulation is a problem though that shouldn't be taken for granted) and feeling of numbness. If the sensation in the toes doesn't come back soon, or numbness spread I suggest you make an appt with you MD for further evaluation.
