money won't make a difference to them. many 3rd world countries are controlled by dictators. others have no effective government. still others dont give any incentive for people to invest. with dictatorships, everything is confiscated. with no effective government, anything you build or buy gets stolen or destroyed. with governments whos policy discourages economic development the people spend and do not save. mexico is a good example of the 3rd case. when people have land, they dont own it, they just occupy it. you get to live in your house until somebody stronger than you kicks you out. that way ordinary people who cant afford armed guards dont bother building a nice house or investing in a business.

We are the world, We are the children. Does that ring a bell. They are given more money every year and it does not do anything because it goes to dictators and war lords. You can't fix a problem by throwing money at it. You have to change there way of life first. Remember Live Aid, that concert was supposed to help the 3rd world. Zimbabwe got a used tire for that jeep they own is about all the good it did.

Because there are an awful lot of them, and in any case giving people money is only ever a short-term fix.
We need to pay the developing world a fair price for the raw materials and agricultural produce we take from them (coffee, for instance, often retails at TWENTY times the price paid to the grower - so we could in theory double the income of the coffee farmers whilst only putting up the retail price of coffee by 5%). We also need to invest in their countries and give them an infrastructure so they can make things for one another and increase their own wealth.
Just giving them the money won't work. The USA, EU and Japan combined account for about one-eighth of the world's population but almost half its GDP. To make everyone in the world equally wealthy would mean those countries giving away three-quarters of everything they own: and that simply isn't going to happen.

Because we are a capitalist society. That kind of generosity is not a part of the capitalist model.
Plus as others said, money doesn't always fix the problem. Most poor countries have a few people much wealthier than any of us on here. Corruption is usually rampant in a poor country and a lot of money falls into corrupt hands.

Because life is way too material today, with people worshipping celebrities and spending money on overpriced clothes (I mean seriously, a pair of Abercrombie jeans that are $60 are still jeans). We do give money to third world countries, but not quite enough. Then again, a lot of people are just plain selfish.

the shelf-life on small arms in Africs is greater than the average lifespan of some in the worst conflicts. AIDS is a mess. Education doesn't exist. Clean water can't be dredged up. You can't simply throw money at the problem, since seomeone with an army will kill hundreds so they can eat steak on the money we send for chick peas.

I don't know where you're from, but the USA gives a tremendous amount of money to foreign aid. It's like a bottomless pit when people from third world countries continue to have one child after another, over-populating the country when unable to afford to house, clothe, and feed these children. Feel free to donate YOUR money to this worthy cause

Because the despots and dictators and other leeches trouser it for themselves for more planes, guns and tanks. The more that's sent the more they want.
