I agree .. Our policy file contains 53 policies ... madness! Who is going to have the time to read them for one thing?!

I'm only a TA and I know compared to what you have to do my job is small potatoes. I fully agree though that the paperwork has bcome so huge that teachers barely get time to know their own students or have to deliver the lessons in such a structured way that the fun goes out of it. It's not really teaching anymore, it's delivering the lesson. It's sad and must change. The children are the one suffering at the end of the day and we will only realise this years down the line when they in their great wisdom, change i all again!!

Are all policies therefore worthless?
I think not, and unless you can't see through the eyes of anyone other than an old fart like yourself...you'll accept that I am right.

I wholeheartedly agree that quality teaching should be at the heart of every school, (along with good management), you and I know that it is not, and with the poor quality of NQTs coming through, something has to be done to cover the inadequacies...

Inevitable really. The long decline into, and blind acceptance of an all Politically Correct doctrine, was destined to turn teachers into government clones. Are we surprised when administration and policy follows the same path. Teaching no longer leads, rather it is lead by the Bureaucrats. Too late now , they have you hooked!

I agree but the parents(which I am one but don't agree) keep whining to protect there children and it is out of control at my sons school they have the no touching policy which they use when they see fit like no holding hands but you can hug but no ruff housing but you can play tackle football. I have a very hard time trying to explain it to him so I told him absolutely no touching anyone but yourself ever and than a teacher called me because a girl was moving and my son wouldn't hug her.... I explained there policy to her(she is new to the school) but it still is stupid....my son is 7 and in 2nd grade

I don't why they expect it of us. I agree with you.
I think the answer is for all of us to stand up with one voice and petition against it. We need to make them aware that all we want to do is concentrate on quality teaching and learning.
