I think its a natural occurence...I just seem to remember

By means of landmarks like high neon signs (mostly, so that even at night you could find your way) and other elevated landmarks that could easily be seen at a distance, sometimes unique to the place and those that you like. These would be easy to remember when you see them and will be the points of reference where you are.

Landmarks and distances.
"Go 14 east on county 12, turn right on the one lane gravel road..."
"The second light when you get to town, (McDonald's on your right), will be Francis Street, turn between the grocery store and the golf cart shop, go west 3 blocks..."

I don't have any tricks I have to write every direction down every time. I get nervous and think I'm going to get lost if I don't have my directions.
