It says if you leave them there there will be serious consequences if you don't bury them and leave them on the floor dead and go on the trail. What could possibly happen?

I don't know about the game, but on the real Oregon Trail if you did not bury your dead the Native Americans would desecrate the bodies. Often the settlers would actually bury their dead on the trail itself and then run over the spot with the wagons, animals and walkers just so that they would remain undesturbed. It probably actually helped both peoples as handling the bodies of the sick would have made the spread of disease even worse to the native population.

I suspect in the game that if you don't bury the dead you can expect and Indian attack very soon....

The writers of the program may be taking into consideration the fact that buzzards and other prey may come after the dead and thus attract too much attention to those who continue along on the trail - and does it specify downwind or upwind from the stench?

I haven't noticed any results either....and there's a few OTHER glitches in the game. Will someone please tell me why on earth six milk cows can't pull a wagon?----as I recall from my readings of every trail guide and diary account, the pioneers hitched EVERYTHING short of sheep to the wagons when they really had to....have seen pictures of oxen, mules, and cows all in the same hitch.

Maybe the designers were planning for multiplayer use, and thought about including an "epidemic" option?

Desecretion of the human body is a sin & against the law. Decomposting body's can spread disease as well. Where embombing bodies was not possible burying them was the only way to control the human risk that was brought on by bodies decomposting.

There aren't any, unless bad 'luck' comes your way. Because sometimes I don't do it. But bad things come anyway so I personally don't think it matters.
