There is plenty a doctor can do...first of all, get a new doctor, then your hormone levels should be checked. If your hormones are extremely off, the safest boost is with bio identical hormones. You should also make sure you are eating a healthy diet, getting plenty of sleep and no alcohol or tobacco (or unnecessary drugs/meds)

It is certainly more difficult to predict your fertile times if your periods are irregular. With a long cycle like yours, it is also less easy to conceive, because you will be releasing an egg less frequently than a woman who has a 28 day cycle.

With a 44-day cycle, a woman would ovulate only eight times a year. In the same period, a woman with a 28-day cycle would ovulate 12 times.

If you have been trying to conceive for more than a year, it would be reasonable to see your GP to discuss this.

The usual plan would be for you to have a series of blood tests to check there is no medical cause for your difficulty in conceiving, and for your partner to have a sperm test to check there is no problem with either the number or the quality of his sperm.

If you have still not conceived once this has been done, you could consider being referred to a gynaecologist who specialises in infertility for further advice and investigation

There could be medical reasons why you are not having regular menstrual cycles...hormonal imbalances..etc.. Were you on the birth control pill? It sometimes takes many months to get your hormones back on schedule to allow your body to conceive. Stress can also have an effect on your body's ability to produce the correct balance of hormones. Are you eating properly? Sleeping enough?
I recommend that you do continue trying and at the same time seek help from a naturopathic doctor who performs acupuncture. She will initially assess you to determine if there is a medical reason why you are not conceiving despite your attempts and will probably prescribe a treatment to help prepare your body for pregnancy. She may also do acupuncture if you are open to it as it has been shown to be very successful when performed correctly (Find someone with experience with infertility). Good luck.

I have the same problem as you are. Mine are very irregular and i never knew when i was ovulating, but my doctor gave me provera to regulate them. As for the help with ovulation if you have pcos like i do..then metformin and if you dont you could try clomid. I'd consider changing drs b/c their is something that can be done to help you. Good luck

I had simmilar problems and did not have a period for 2 years.
There are fertility drugs to kick start your period and ovulation.
You can also tell your ovulating when you notice a clear mucus
discharge (approx 14 days after your last period) this is stringy to touch. This lasts about 2 days and is a sure indicator of ovulation.
good luck

u need to tell your doctor to test your thyroid levels and give u an ultrasound or lab works to see if u have pcos. all my life my periods have been irregular. its not normal to go 4 months without your period. request to see an edocrinologist, they can help u better than a gynocologists. pcos is a hormonal problem.
i got pregnant @ 22years old with the help of metformin and clomid.

i think you should try and calm down. i know trying to get pregnant is frustrating, me and my husband had the same problem. once both you and your husband are relaxed that miracle will happen, trust me. it took us about 2 1/2 yrs before our first son, just be patient.
good luck, you'll be a great mommy!!!
