You mean go up to a faster flow? If the baby seems frustrated when having a bottle, like they aren't getting enough...then it's time, otherwise you can go by the guidlines, and move to a stage 2 nipple around 3-4 months and then 3 at 6 months and so forth.

If the nipple is falling apart, or you can see the whole in the top of the nipple without having to squeeze the nipple, it is time to change it. I would usually change my son's bottle nipples every month.

usually the nipple will get sticky feeling even when its clean, this is the best time to change it. It will do this before the nipple falls apart, i wouldn't risk waiting for that to happen and it being in my babies mouth and choke them. so if the nipple is sticky get a new one.

If it's cracked or anything you should change them. Unless you mean the FLOW of the bottle and when to move up. I went from slow flow to medium flow at about three months for our daughter. She was old enough to not gag on the formula coming faster.

If you use latex nipples every 2 months.
If you use silicone every 6 months.

Except if you need more flow (so you have to change it even if it
is new)
