I thought Queen got a little out of hand at some points, but Interview was EXcellent! Plus all the leading men were fine!

"Queen of the Damned" was an unfortunate mistake that cannot be corrected for many years until remakes can be done. It butchered the source material which was two books, "The Vampire Lestat" and "Queen of the Damned". The movie on its own was actually a good vampire movie but should never have associated to the Anne Rice novels.

I also pity the fool who failed to get contracts with Tom, Brad and Antonio for sequels to "Interview". Townsend was fine as Lestat but for continuity sake the original actors should have made all three movies. (The fourth and fifth books are not well suited for movie adaptations.)

I should have known when I heard Anne Rice left the project that the movie would disappoint me. I couldn't have predicted that years after it's release just thinking about the movie still makes me angry. The novels are amazing, and while I understand much gets lost in the translation to screen, this movie was a great big middle finger to her original work. I hope one day someone tries again, the right way, starting with The Vampire Lestat. They change the roles and looks of major and minor characters alike for no good reason. They destroy Lestat's history. The acting of the Queen is exaggerated to the point of comedy, but I just can't bring myself to laugh. The charm and allure of the novels just isn't there. The movie is a bad excuse to cram as many musicians and "dark" imagery as possible into one movie, hoping the teeny Goths of America would lap it up. Part of the appeal of the first movie, of Louis' story, is that he is caught between his humanity and his curse. Lestat is supposed to take over and display the magic and excitement of the vampire world. Thank goodness I read the books first, or I'd have never touched them after this movie.

I've only read Interview with the Vampire, but I did see both movies. I liked Interview, but not so much Queen of the Damned.

I really thought that guy who played the rock-star-vampire was hot hot, didn't you? and aliahia(i cant remember how to spell her name) I thought she was so pretty but so evil. I've read a few of her early books, she's into writing about religion now though. Interview With The Vampire was a really good movie. Brad Pitt-wow! I even liked Tom Cruise back then.

You know, I did enjoy Queen of the Damned, yet I was disappointed with INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE, only because it had excellent actors, and was supposed to be an excellent book series. Because of my disappointment, I haven't read the Anne Rce books yet.

Loved the books!! And, I liked Queen of the Damned (the movie). I thought Stuart Townsend was SO much better as Lestat than Tom Cruise (ugh - he was awful!).
