It is not the extension that you save your file as to get the command prompt. If I understand your question correctly, you will need to write a batch file (.bat extension) and you use batch file script to go to open the command prompt window.

I guess you can make a notepad file with one line in it:

cmd.exe

Then save this as MyFile.bat. This will work. Better way would be to create a shortcut to cmd.exe or just hit Windows-R and type cmd to get the command window.
