Um... what? When are you referring to? And what kind of math? Geometry? Primarily you use protractors and compasses (and a good straightedge, of course) If you're talking about instruments for doing the calculations, there are slide rules and the abacus. For math related to specialized tasks (such as ballistics or orienteering), special instruments such as astrolabes and sextants were invented. I'm not sure I can tell you any more than that without more clarification of your question.
