This weekend I bought the following at Old Navy online:
13 shirts, 2 knitted yoga-like capris and 2 knitted yoga-like pants.
I paid $189 including taxes and shipping, so that is about $11 per piece of clothing.
I still need to buy 2 pair of jeans, 1 pair of shorts, underwear, bras and a sweater. That would probably cost me about $125. My mother-in-law said she would buy me all of that.
Do you think $189 was too much to spend on maternity clothes? I don't plan to buy anymore on my own and we are hoping to have at least 1 more child. (This is my first pregnancy)
What do you think?

Only buy what you need as you need it and a lot of the time you can use regular clothes instead of maternity especially undergarments. Maternity underware is not comfortable.

Aren't you the thrift shopper! That sounds like a great deal if you like the clothes you picked out. I didnt have anyone else offer to buy me pregnancy clothes, and bought less than you but spend WAY more. One pair of jeans was over $30... and I bought a few. Add in the shorts, the bras, the tops, and I spent at least double what you did for sounds like half the loot.
You know, this is all relative. Did you have the money to spend on getting yourself 13 shirts when really just 3 or 4 would do? I pampered myself all the time with new clothes when I was working, why the heck not? It makes me feel good to wear something new - it usually gets at least one nice comment from someone who can make your whole week. If you now have to eat nothing but pasta and rice for a month to cover the bill, then of course you should take some of it back. I'm guessing your husband say everything and had a heartattack, which is why you are asking this ?. Then I'd have to back you up and say no way, that wasnt too much to get!

Depends on your job and what you do. If you're just a stay at home (soon to be mom) person, then I would say yeah....a couple shirts and sweat pants from walmart would do. That's all I did with my daughter when I wasn't working. I had one nice outfit (it was like $30 for jeans and a shirt). But for this pregnancy I work in an office...and well, I can't wear sweat pants! I have already spend about $400 on clothes and I am sure I will buy more. But $11 per piece isn't bad just looking at it that way. Plus, with this pregnancy I was in maternity clothes by 9 weeks only! With my daughter (first pregnancy) I could wear all normal clothes until 4 1/2 months along. Good Luck either way!

It depends on your particular income, it could be too much for some, but if you can afford it and plan on wearing it again that's fine. I personally don't think it's too much, you should enjoy your pregnancy and that includes your clothes. You don't have to walk around in clothes that are not stylish or ugly. You will wear them for nine months thats a pretty long time almost a year. It's also a good idea to buy jeans that you can still wear after your pregnant. Gapmaternity has nice styles that you can still wear afterwards.

I'd say don't spend more money on clothing for yourself unless you absolutely have too... You should save as much money as you can for your baby... Everything for babies is so darn expensive.... I'm a stay at home mom of 2 with 1 on the way... I've only bought 4 pairs of maternity pants and 4 maternity shirts... throughout all of my pregnancies so far.... I just bought my clothes from cheap discount stores... they work the same as the expensive ones.... you'll only need your maternity clothes for the later part of your pregnancy and for the first few months after you deliver your baby... Congratulations and good luck...

13 shirts is quite a few...although if you want to have new clothes on, like trade them out, it should be fine. You will need more later on though...believe it or not, you'll get bigger than you will ever have imagined! So be prepared to fork out more money later on. Make sure you have lots of comfortable pants or sweat suits. Those were my favorite. You may have to buy some new shoes later on too if your feet swell.
Old navy is pretty cheap so I think you did well with your purchases. Just make sure you are comfy, that's all that matters.
Just keep all your clothes for your next pregnancy and you won't regret spending any money at all!!
Good luck with your new baby!

i tried to get clothing from friends, yet I, too, artwork in an workplace and necessary a touch bit nicer clothing. Plus, i'm small and maximum of the maternity clothing did not in good structure me today. i in my opinion had to commence with small maternity clothing and then purchase extra mediums. to this point, I have likely spend round $500. also, I have found that the motherhood outlet save has extremely extremely low priced maternity clothing, even valuable employer dresses. you should attempt that.

I guess if your working its ok. You will need that stuff. It will also be fine for when you have your next pregnancy. I always just buy a couple pairs of jeans and a few tshirts and maybe an outfit for church. But Im a stay at home mom and have 3 other kids already and borrowed alot of clothes from my friend who just had a baby. Good Luck with everything.

You might need larger sizes later during the pregnancy. I wouldn't buy anything else until you get further along in the pregnancy. If you plan on having another baby, then the clothes will go to good use later on. I ended up buying maternity clothes until a month or so before my daughter was born.

No way, thats a great deal. I am super picky on jeans so I though each of my 3 pregnancies have purchased 2 pair of MiMi jeans at 90 each & 1 pair of 200 pea in a pod jeans. I dont regret it you need to be comfortable durin the most uncomfortable 9 months.

sounds like you did a good job shopping, to me.
Keep the clothes and borrow some from friends if you can.
And a bit of advice. Don't buy too much newborn clothes! It is so tempting because they are so tiny and cute. But ya know what, they won't wear all of them because the little buggers grow so darn fast! The best gifts are clothes for 18-24 month size. You'll see! good luck!
