that is selfish, babies who are born by cesarean have an increased risk of dying. They have more fluids in their lungs, if they are delivered vaginally labor squeezes the fluid out of their lungs so they can breathe better after birth. C-sections should only be used for medical emergncies! Good doctors with a conscience will never give a c-section to a woman who is scared of labor. Get an epidural if you are afraid of pain.

I have had 2 c-sections because I had to. Some doctors will let you choose it over natural birth, you just have to find one. They can't really force you to birth naturally. And just like natural birth its different for everyone on the recovery. I was just fine with mine, infact I was out of bed as soon as I got the feelings in my legs back. Its harder to move, but they give you painkillers. And whoever said you can't drive, etc, is lying. As soon as you have full use of your body, you can drive, clean, and whatever, just as long as you don't overdue yourself. And if you do opt for it, ask what stitches they will use. They have both dissolving and metal staples. If you can opt for the dissolving, its a bit more comfy then the other (I had both). Also, while I'm thinking of it. The recovery time depends on you, some people said its longer and more painful, but usually its not. I'm 7 weeks post-partum right now and I was almost completely healed at 4 weeks and I was able to stop the painkillers at 2 weeks. I'm not saying it will be the same for you, but its not as bad as some make it out to be. Not to mention I'm not sure how hold some of these moms are or what procedure they used on them. Nowadays they cut you at your bikini line to keep it from showing, rather than back in the day when they cut the middle up and down. The new way is much less painful, and noone but you and your partner will see the scar.

I don't think you can request a c section and I don't know why you would want to. I was terrified of the pain too but once the baby's out, the pain is gone. Recovery is a lot harder and longer and more painful with a section compared to a vaginal birth. And you can get an epidural for the pain of natural birth anyway.

Your fear of pain is very understandable. But I think most doctors frown on elective c-sections. The risks of infection and complications are increased, there are risks of uterine rupture in future pregnancies. Request an epidural instead, the are very effective. There is also faster healing time after a normal vaginal birth. The doctors can always be prepared to do a c-section if you become too tired or experience too much pain. Give your body a chance to show you what it can do!

Giving birth does hurt, but it is really not that bad. I felt such a sense of accomplishment afterward and I didn't have any drugs. It was the most wonderful thing I've ever done. If you have an epidural then you won't feel most of the pain. I think you should seriously reconsider. A c-section is surgery. They cut you open and then you have all the healing to do. You won't even be able to pick up the baby at first. I think that it is wonderful that you can have a c-section if it is necessary, but you shouldn't have one just to get out of giving birth.

It depends on the doctor. Some doctors will only do C-sections if it is an emergency or the woman can medically not have a vaginal birth. This is because there is no reason to put someone through a major surgery when it isn't needed.

I say u can only have a c-section if u really need one, like if it is an emergency and if u or your baby r in danger.Like when i had my daughter it was a natural birth with no epidurals. But it was fine and the labor was painful but i stuck it out and in the end, it was all worth it. Unless your a famous person then i say have a normal birth.

yes, we all sweat it. But ya know, use the c-section as a backup if the normal delivery isn't going well. Tell the doctor how you feel.
You won't know until you have your first baby that it's not that bad. I had three kids with absolutely no meds. Probably because my deliveries were so quick. You just never know.
Don't stress over it because it makes it worse. Learn everything you can about deliveries and don't listen to the negative stories about being in labor for 36 hours. Geez..............
Who wants a scar on the stomach anyway?

A c/s is major abdomenal surgery and no reputable doctor would give you one without a medical indication. There are increased risks to mom and baby when a surgical birth is performed, including increased blood loss for mom, increased chance of infection, longer healing time, etc.
There may be more pain during a vaginal birth, but it's over in a matter of hours. A c/s means pain for days/weeks afterwards as your body heals.
I'd suggest you work on your issues surrounding birth and figure out how to quell your fears. The book "Birthing From Within" by England is good for working on the emotional side of childbirth. Educate yourself about birth. Read good books like "The Birth Book" by Dr. Sears and "The Birth Partner" by Simkin or "Husband Coached Childbirth" by Dr. Bradley. Take a good childbirth prep class as well. Talk to your doctor about your concerns.

girl your crazy a c-section have you talked to both people who have had c-sections and vaginal births???????? I'm 5 moths pregnant with my 1st and yes i thought of both ways and after talking to many many women vaginal isn't nearly as painful as a c-section you gotta remember they might numb you while their cutting into you but eventually it wears off in which you still have a huge cut across your tummy which takes about 6 weeks to hea... and 6 months or so to be normal again.......l if the healing is anywhere close to a boo-job....... healing process is so so so painful..people have to help you out of bed you cant sit up on your own and i hear with a c-section you pretty much have to learn to walk all over again.. so a few hous of labor compare to 5 weeks of extremly painfull healing..... maybe you should rethink your fears a lil better..... get an epidural like many women say its the only way to go.....
