My daughter invited her 2 best friends skating last night, and when we went to pick them up they weren't home! Now my daughter is really upset because she said that at least they could have called her and told her they weren't coming! Well she called one after we were done skating and all he could say was, "Are you mad at me? :( Well this made her madder because he gave no reason why they didn't come! Anyway to get to the point, what can I do to cheer her up?

Mom,

Use this as a life lesson ... some times people can let ya down ... but try not to let get you down. Explain to her thats why doing things that you enjoy is so important ... if the other folks don't show you can still have a great time. After all some folks may not skate as well and be embarissed, perhaps they grew a huge "Zit" or perhaps they had a better offer .... what ever just be more choosy the next time you wanna invite the same people and always be prepared if they miss the bus.

Be happy in your self and not too dependent on other folks for your personal enjoyment!

You Rock Mom !

It depends how old your daughter is. I think the friends owe her an explanation. But maybe it's time to evaluate the quality of the friends she has. However, I think kids need to learn that things don't always go how they want and people let you down. That's just the way it is. I would help her to use this experience as a lesson in talking things through with friends, and in how to forgive and move on after someone hurts you. You can't protect your kids from everything, it's just life.

I don't think that there is anything you can say to her to cheer her up, but do point out to her how people can be and life is not always a bowl of cherries. It's a hard lesson to learn, but the sooner she realizes that there are these kind of people out there, she will be a stronger woman for it. But I would suggest that the two friends shouldn't be invited to so anything else, and for your daughter not to hang with them as much, she may want to consider new best friends.

Well, just tell her not to worry about it, there could be many reasons why they didn't show up.
