He is healthy, full of energy and a good weight, drinks his milk, and pureed food, but won't eat anything thicker - and will make himself sick - impossible to get him to eat anything with meat in it, or anything with 'bits'. He has eight teeth, and is now on iron each day. Is this common?? When will he be able to eat thicker food, I think he should now be able to eat little pieces of bread and fruit, but it's just not happening.

I had the same problems with my daughter- even though she had lots of teeth she wasn't comfortable with lumpy/ bitty food, and it would make her gag. I stayed with the pureed stuff. About a week before her birthday, at around the time she had started to walk, she took some bacon off my plate, toddled off with it, and ate it.
And she was 17 months old before she was eating fruit by herself. Both times that she started doing what she hadn't done ever done before, she had me staring on in shock, as it was totally unpredictable.
Hang on in there. Stick with the puree for a while longer, and I promise that you will see progress in your little fella soon!

If he has teeth and won't eat solids, you might have him checked. It's not normal for him to not be eating some kind of solid food. He might have a medical condition that won't allow him to swallow solid food. Get him checked.

i understand precisely what ur speaking about . My son has basically stopped doing that now at 21 months . it progressivly were given a lot less and a lot less tho . He nonetheless eats some thing and each and every thing tho . If hes hungry he will loiter round like a foul smell and attempt to climb up ur leg ( or who ever has nutrients lol ) , if hes no longer that hungry he will basically buzz in have a flavor , proceed playing yet will come back at times for yet another flavor , lol . If its no longer junk nutrients or some thing he might want to choke on ,then iwould basically supply him some . i might want to guarantee that i in hardship-free words ate fruit or healthful stuff round him tho . And he will now devour fruit of veggie sticks all day if he might want to . and my son isnt over weight both , hes about 50 percential . i imagine withholding nutrients is better probable to reason issues .. if he cant have it even as he needs it , then even as its there hes basically going to devour more and more coz who knows even as the subsequent time that's going to likely be avalible back . ive in hardship-free words basically looked after out my over ingesting situation because as a young person ( starting to be up with 3 youngster brothers ) it develop into devour quickly and devour now , because there develop into no longer some thing ever left if u were hunrgy later .. youngster boys devour alot , lol basically make certain u in hardship-free words grant healthful nutrients and over ingesting shouldnt be a situation . As for the way a lot is " widespread " , at 11 months my son develop into having 3 5 oz..bottle of formulation, yet another 5 oz..of different fluids , and when you consider that infant jars and stuff are all differnt sizes ( my son develop into on table nutrients no longer purees tho ) im going to assert that if i mushed all of it up it would want to prooly be about 15 oz. . i imagine lol ohh and that i can make my son devour slowly .. because even as ur abdomen is extremely finished , it takes about yet another 20 minutes for the mind to relise that the tummy is completed

First of all, stop with the pureed foods. Switch to more chunkier foods. If he won't eat - just keep at it and don't give into him. Sooner or later he'll eat it. He will get hungry and once he realizes you've put your foot down he'll eat the food and stop his stupid games.

Slowly add "bits" into his food. Put in the smallest little pieces you can and slowly make them bigger and bigger each time. This will help to ease him into eating solids.
