This is actually a follow up to a question that I asked and got a good answer but in the answer it was suggested that I get a "difuser". What is a difuser?

A diffuser is a register. Registers have varying configurations of vanes which allows one to select the direction of the air being distributed by it. The vanes also determine the amount of "throw" that the diffuser can generate - or how many feet away from the register that the air can be felt to be moving.

Some registers also have dampers incorporated in them. These doors controlled by levers(dampers) allow one to adjust the amount of air coming out of the register.

What it does is take the combustion air that is forced into the burner throat and divide it with a twist to allow the oil and air to combine easier...it also is a contributing factor in the formation of the "cone" that the flame forms...
