I think seeing James Garner that old was more sad than the movie itself. I really like him, you know. An absolute natural. He's been making films for a long time, and he's never had an acting lesson. He's right up there with my favorite actors.

This story plays out as Duke, played by James Garner, reads a story about two young people in the 1940s who fall in love and endure life. The movie moves between present-day and the 1940s. It is structurally very similar to "Fried Green Tomatoes", which is also one of my all time favorite movies.

Unlike "Fried Green Tomatoes", this focuses on young love as it grows and endures through wars and parental dissent. Sure, the core is the "Romeo and Juilet" theme, but the way is plays out and the exceptional charisma that the actors bring to the screen make it feel fresh and not entirely predictable. This is a deeply romantic movie. If you are cynical at all about romance, timeless love and dedication to another person, you may find yourself rolling your eyes a bit. I am not that cynical about the emotional ties that bind us and I was thoroughly taken in by the story.

This is such a gentle movie. The characters are very human and very likable. All of the actors turn in engrossing and compelling performances.

Technically, this movie is exceptional, too. The scenes during the opening credits is absolutely breathtaking. The editing is very good. The story is compelling from the opening credits to the closing credits.

My wife and I don't always share the same perspective on movies, but we agreed on this one. We both loved it immensely. I am certain this will become part of our permanent collection.

I also love this movie!, it's so romantic and different to the rest, because usually the movies show romance only in teenage or people around the thirties, but this movie proved that romance may last for ever, and with the same passion as in the beginning or even more!

OMG!!! i love this movie!! Every time I see it, I cry. I thought it was soooo good and wish i could be in love with someone like that. I was the best movie ever. But it is really sad too if you're the tye of person that cries during movies.

I think it is the most romantic movie that has been made in the last 10-20 years. I weep like an idiot every time I get to the end. Very beautiful love story.

I LOVE this movie!!! It is the best love story I've ever heard. The first time I watched it, I cried all the way through it and for 30 min. after the movie!!! My boyfriend at the time (husband now) tried so hard to get me to stop crying. I had glow in the dark stars on my ceiling, and he picked one out and named it for me, thinking that I would stop crying, but I just kept on and on and on. I'm kinda scared to watch it again unless I'm in a real good crying mood.

OMG! Best love story ever!! It's a shame that more women/men don't ever have a chance to experience a love so deep and devoted. Whew! Gives me chills just thinking about the movie. I love it! I've seen it at least 20 times!!!

The Notebook was AWESOME! Of course one of my fav. movie's because it was a chick flick, but it is gonna go down in history as one of the best love stories. It's like Titanic or Armageddon, you have seen them like a million times and know exactly what's gonna happen but you still need a box of tissues EVERYTIME! Awesome movie!! I'm in love with Noah, I wish guys were still like that! 8-)
