Would you rather live in the USA or Europe?

I have also lived in both and I would choose Europe. I think European people are used to foreigners and have a broader mind. We usually travel around Europe. Most people in the USA have not travelled abroad and seem to think their own country is the centre of the universe.
Europeans are used to criticizing our politicians and finding both their good and bad sides; if they do something wrong, we usually "punish" them in the next elections. In the USA your president justifies his wrong decisions (for example, about the war) making you believe he has straight link with the Lord.
Europeans study foreign languages and love meeting foreigners and exchange ideas (well, I don´t think the British enjoy; they may be the only exception). Americans go everywhere (when they do go) speaking English and taking for granted everybody has to understand them.
Europeans usually work for a living; Americans seem to live for working.
In Europe, we may not have the best doctors in the world, but everybody, included foreigners, can be visited by their doctor (general practitioner). In America, you have the best doctors in the world, but few people can pay them.
I could go on and on for hours, I guess, but I don´t want to get you bored.

Of course, you have guessed! I am European, Spanish. And we have a saying:"It´s better something bad, but known, than something good but not known yet"

As someone who has lived in both i would have to say Europe , in many aspects there are similarities in the 2 continents, the plus side of europe for me is that the inhabitants are more accpeting and cospmopolitian than in the US. I love America but am always horrified at how little Americans understand about the world. Insular nations are very dangerous whether they be North Korea or or the USA, the truth is as a planet we are all interdependant on each other, America as a nation do not tend to understand this and think that only there well being matters at the expense of all others. Within 10 years the Dollar will be a secondary currency, initilally the Euro wil take over as the currency of choice and this will change as the asian economies grow. In 50 years USA will be only as powerfull as the UK is now, and China and India will rule the economic planet. I would choose Europe because they will accept these changes and will argue for the good of all during this change. The USA will struggle badly to comprehend this natural balance of power change and will resist probably through many more futile wars amd many millions of deaths.

Dont get me wrong , i like American people and think it is a beautiful country but they have demonstrated an arrogance time and time again that is willing to sacrifice oter countries for the convenience of the USA. It needs to understand we are a global village and some things are more important than your right to carry guns, or sell weapons. The american citizens will have to learn the lesson its just if they do it the hard way or the sensible way.

Dont be surprised however if the world treats you as you have treated it in the past.....

Depends where in the USA and where in Europe. I have lived in both, and there are good things about both (generalizing "Europe"), but "home" for me is America, and family is in America, so I'd rather live in the USA.

Someone with a European way of thinking and lifestyle can be very comfortable in America, whereas someone with an American way of thinking and lifestyle is comparatively not as comfortable living in Europe, in my opinion and experience.

The sorry state of our world today make one think about that very carefully. I do not feel as safe as I should in the US. The same applied to most of Europe. Overall, I would rather live in a mid sized city in the US. But my first choice would be Auckland, New Zealand. It is a beautiful city of over 1.25 million people. Very nice, low cost of living, good health care, and so far free from terrorists.

For the moment, life in the US isn't as tense as it is many places in Europe, such as France, and if I were going to live in Europe I'd choose France, so I'd side with the US on this one.

I used to live in Europe, and if I could, I would go back. The life there is much more laid back. There is just too much pressure in America.

If I had a secure source of money, I'd live in Europe--Italy, Spain, Austria. Milano would probably be best if I had a LOT of money.

Just all depends where in Europe.

I've lived here in the states all my life and i went to France this past june and i loved it. But Paris was really really crowded and didn't like it too much. But outside of Paris i loved!!

I live in the U.S. and although I love it here, I would definitely love to go back to Europe. I spent a few years in Germany while I was married to my now ex-husband and it was a really beautiful place and I loved the culture. I hope to one day get back if not permanately, at least for a vacation.
