That is, if we shouldn't have pulled out of Vietnam when we did
then presumably we had work left to do. Should we go back in?

The question isn't "should we go back" - it's "should we have ever gone at all".

The Vietnam war began simply because the native people wanted independance from French colonialism. In the US, we are taught that the so called "native born" colonists who rebelled against England were heros. Strange how when whites oppose another group of whites it is acceptable. Yet when people of other races fight back against their white oppressors thay are wrong. I wish the US would try to re-engage Veitnam, just so I could see China come down there and kick some ***.

No, we should learn from our stupid mistakes. Dont start a war you don't intend to finish. Don't cut and run just because the war doesn't seem popular at the moment. George Bush would have won in Viet Nam. His type of commitment will win in Iraq.

No.

Nothing could be accomplished more than 30 years after the fact.

What the matter of you...That war was unnecessary. We lost a lot of our soldiers. What work you are talking about? We shouldn't go back. What we need to do is pull our soldiers out of Irak. This is a lost war.
