..."Why do you HATE this person?" My bf doesn't care for him either. What do you think my bf was getting at? Why would he care if I said I hated this other person? Was he trying to pick a fight? Or maybe trying to be critical of me?

I guess your boyfriend just narrowed in on your use of the word HATE....I think today we tend to use the word Hate too much......just to make a point of stating our displeasure or dislike of a person or thing.....

How do hate someone you do not know? That is what your bf finds odd.

The problem is that you hate whatever it is that the politician did or does; his lies (they all lie); his manner of dress; his accent; he made a rude pass at you; something; but you do not hate people just so. It is irrational.

You say your bf 'doesn't care for him either'. See the difference in your explanations? He obviously does not have a good feeling about the politician but he does not go off the deep end.

I can understand hate - for instance when someone does a truly evil act - they rape or kill - but it takes something absolutely off the chart.

No, he was not picking a fight, nor was he being critical of you. Think, okay!

Hate is an extremely powerful force - the exact opposite of love. Be very careful when you make a decision to entertain it. Think, again!

Some people consider "Hate" to be as passionate of an emotion as "Love". The question could be, do you really have that much emotional energy into hating that person. Having a strong true hatred of something can be emotionally taxing & unhealthy. So maybe he's concerned hearing you say that you hate something.

Love and Hate also get overused, and their levels of intensity gets watered down. "I love those shoes", "I hate her dress", ect. The question could have been how much value do you put into the terms you're using. Is "hating" the politician on the same level as saying "I love you" for example.

Either way, I'd say that it sounds he was trying to get a deeper look into you. I wouldn't say that it sounded like he was trying to start fight (not just by this at least).

I don't think your bf was trying to pick a fight. Hate is a very strong word. Unless you know the politician personally, you can't really hate him or her. To strongly disagree with someone or to strongly dislike someone is one thing but to hate is to say that this person is horrible and despicable. Can you really say that about someone you don't personally know?

That replaced into between the best pleas i've got study in an prolonged time and that i sympathise with the variety you sense, notwithstanding if i'm no longer gay. in spite of the undeniable fact that i think of it somewhat is a mistake to quickly affiliate hate with being placed to dying. might you no longer placed down your previous crippled canines and nonetheless love him? Even the ArchDevil, Hitler, had them placed to dying. i does no longer recommend that and don't consider the bible's statements on the area. What i in my opinion dislike is that, because of the fact there are properly over 2 billion human beings on earth that are religious and not in favour of 'gays', why you insist in affronting them with what they view as sin, and are consistently pressing for extra tolerance, to the quantity of having marriages etc. So it somewhat isn't any suprise to you that they react against it, even strongly. awareness might say stay interior the closet and save to yourselves. while issues get tough, as they'll over here few years and previous, it somewhat is somewhat undemanding that populations turn on minorities they dislike to furnish vent to their concern and anger. As Christ suggested, enable he who's without sin throw the 1st stone. i do no longer throw stones, yet others will. don't be a aim seems common-sense and perchance even sensible.

Maybe it's what the polictitan beliefs you hate. Do you know the politian personally? If no.. Then how could you HATE him / her.

IE We sometimes mistake the person for the actions of a person. I hate his / her actions therefore I must hate them. not a good thought.....
You can love someone but hate their actions. I know my parents love me yet I have done things they REALLY hated.
Smart boy friend I would keep him,...

It sounds like he was trying to pick a fight with you OR maybe he was just teasing you. Either way, I think if you ask him you will find out the real reason. So, go ask him.

hate could be called the opposite of love. It takes energy to love and energy to hate. Not to like or dislike. Perhaps he was just trying to tell you not to spend that much energy on something you cant control.

Hate is an overused word. If you check dictionary.com, you might find that you don't hate a politician, but you strongly disagree with his policy.
