yes it sure can and it does
no one knows how to play tennis or any other game when they are born
no one is born talented
its only when they learn the techniques that they succeed
ppl may have a body structure suited for something and that is a persons luck, not talent
so,for me,technique definitely surpasses talent.

Technique can surpass talent, but talent can also surpass technique.

It all depends on the scale. I have a friend who was good enough to be an all state linebacker but he injured his knee so he played tennis.

He had this horrible forehand that was basically snapping his forearm through the ball...but he was so strong the ball was like a rocket.

You can have great technique but little talent and get far if you play hard. If you have amazing talent but ok technique you also have a chance to get far.

To be truly great...and I mean top 100 in the world (Come on, we say "blablabla sucks he's only number 70, but do you know how amazing he must be?) you have to have both.

When you're young, it's all about natural talent and some kids just see the ball faster and are more coordinated.
As they progress though, hard work and technique pays of more than talent.
Remember, technique is only there to make shots more reliable and effortless. Even if you have the best technique in the world, you can still suck because you don't practise and train hard...
Roger Federer has such a great natural talent and great technique, but he still worked very hard his whole life to get where he is.
Nadal hasn't got great technique, he has an amazing talent for movement and coordination though, seems like that works for him though!!

I think that hard work cannot surpass talent because talent is a God given gift! You can for example take voice lessons and sing okay but your not gonna be no Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Or Celine Dion! You either have it or not. Anyways, God has given each and everyone of us Time and talent it is up to you what you do with it!

Maybe I think it all depends on dedication. You can have all the talent in the world but if you are not dedicated, then technique can definatley surpass talent.

Tennis is a timing sport. If you do not practice it does not matter how much of a gift you have you will struggle. Obviously you are going to be a great player if you work hard and have the natural movement and timing that the top players have.
