Hi,

My eyesight is not good enought to let me drive but I have always been interested in what it is like.

I can usnderstand why someone whould want to drive to get grom a to b, but I can't understand why someone would drive for 'pleasure'.

Also, what is 'joy riding is all about?. If I understand this correctly, surely this should be called 'death driving'?

Anything else you can tell me about driving?

Thanks

For one , it is very expensive, and because of the idiots on the road can be dangerous, but with out a car you are unable to go to the places at your own time and day of choosing, to see places that are inaccessible to public transport, For the pleasure of driving itself, to get behind the wheel of a nice car, to have the ability of guiding it through all the revel ant dangers that could occur if not done correctly being aware of others , it keeps your brain active, as for the joy riders these are morons who charge about at reckless speeds endangering the lives of others as well as their own, pleasure drivers are those who want to get out of doors for a while with out having to stand in the rain waiting for a bus that is invariably late, yes , I would miss the use of my car and sympathise that you cannot drive yourself

I thoroughly enjoy driving in town or on the highway,
It gives me a euphoric feeling of independence and control.
I am a very defensive driver and it is an adventure for me
every-time I get in my car...but I am never uptight or nervous.
It is one of the most relaxing things for me to do. I do not rush..
rarely speed..and perhaps that is the secret to having a good
driving experience...along with patience.

I get great pleasure from the beautiful scenery along the way
and enjoy driving the "long" way in order to experience all the
small towns...and often stop to enjoy the ambiance of small
town living.

I believe that patience is most important if you want to enjoy driving ..especially in a big city ..and never being in a big hurry definitely helps! I learned to drive in a big city.

To sum it up ..all driving is an adventure to me whether it is going a short distance or on a long trip..and I feel free..content..relaxed and happy .

hi, im learning to drive at the moment, and what i found, especialy at the start, was that it was an extremely odd feeling to be in such control. it is completely different from sitting in a car as a passenger, you are not merely riding inside a machine, it is as if the machine is an extention of your body; and now that i am more experienced- this is even more the case, as i dont even have to think about changing gears or indicating-exactly like i dont have to think about walking or writing in a mechanical way.

it is a thrill to drive fast, with the constant possiblitly and knowledge of the fact that the slightest movement on the wheel and you will crash. i think this is what attracts people to gta and 'joy riding'.

I'm going to guess you're not totally blind? Have you tried ATVs?You can stick a partner on behind you just to make sure you don't get into too much trouble. It should give you a fair sense of operating a vehicle, it's not the same as highway driving but it will give you a clue.
And not everyone enjoys driving.
