not as many as should have been hanged....how many murders and such would not have been committed in the first place in the UK if the death sentence had not been abolished...sentencing is to lenient these days ...we have child rapists and murderers getting out after serving a few years that's not right...BRING BACK THE NOOSE

There is no way of knowing. The victims of the death penalty were all convicted of a capital crimes. If, after the fact, some evidence comes forward to exonerate them, it is too late to do anything about it. I am sure that there are some in that category but none that I can point out. I believe that I have heard of one or two cases of that sort. Unless you were able to test each and every capital case and be able to say for certain that one or the other was definitely guilty or innocent, then there is no way to develop a statistic to answer your question.

There have been some, how many is difficult to ascertain. That is why those who are against the death penalty take the stand they do. I believe in the death penalty, but only when the evidence is 100% accurate. I do not believe the right party was executed in the Lindbergh kidnapping. But I believe Saddam deserves to hang. I bet in the history of our nations, dozens and dozens of innocent people have been executed. In the past 50 years, probably 10 -20.

I'm sure there are some innocent people who've been killed because of the death penalty, but that doesn't mean that the death penalty should be discontinued,

23 innocent people have been executed in the last 100 years. Since 1972, 100 + people have been released from death row because they were discovered to have been innocent.

How many guilty people have been killed because of the death penalty?
Justice is much like war, in both you have acceptable losses.

Much fewer than the number of victims who were killed because liberal judges released people on probabtion who should have been executed.
