Have you tried researching justifiable homicide laws?

Laws vary by jurisdiction (state and/or country). Each jurisidiction has different laws for when deadly force can be used.

Generally, in most situations, the level of force that can be used in self defense is the same as the level of force used in the attack. So, someone defending against a lethal attack can use lethal force.

For a definate answer, you can check your local state laws. If you want a general answer, then pick up any law book on criminal law or criminal defenses, and it will state the general rule. Or you can use the Model Penal Code, linked below.

The "Make my day" law
There are several legal websites that you can find the law. Some of them are:
findlaw.com
justice.com (run by findlaw)
oscn.net
Good luck :)
