Oswald would've squeeled and led the investigation to Marcello, the Boss of the New Orleans familia. Marcello had a grudge against Bobby and with the tacit approval from Giancana (the then Boss of Bosses of the Syndicate) who also had it in for JFK for renigging on promises made about gambling in Havana and other Mafie schemes in the states. Marcello was the main person behind Ruby's activities. Ruby was a two bit night club owner in the Marcello organization.

There are lots of theories about this and we'll probably never know. However there is quite a connection with the events. One possibility is this. Prior to the assasination of Kennedy it was known that bothr Jack and Robert Kennedy had affairs with Marilyn Monroe and Robert may have had her killed. The man chosen to do this was possibly one who was sent to Cuba to kill Castro but, instead defected. Oswald was fascinated with Cuba and tried to visit but was turned down. It is possible that he was trained by the defector and persuaded to kill Kennedy. Robert Kennedy as head of the FBI would have known all this and if Oswald had lived and talked the whole Kennedy clan could have been implicated in criminal activities. As he probably had contacts with the Mafia if is not impossible that he arranged for Oswald to be killed by Ruby who just before he died in 1967 said 'I wouldn't have done it if I didn't have to.' but would elaborate no further. So the mystery continues.

He was either a rather fanatical patriotic American, or, like most theories suggest, he was paid to silence the 'Patsy'. he did have acssess to a the most heavily guarded criminal in America, and Oswald took a lot of questions to the grave. there is a film called RUBY that is quite interesting but no one knows for sure. Ruby himself 'mysteriously' died of cancer not long after. Time is getting on and a lot of the people involved have since died of old age, so maybe the truth will never out!

Lee Harvey Oswald didn't shoot JFK. The angle wasn't right. Oswald would have been facing the back of JFK's head, but the bullet clearly hit him in the front temple and splattered the back of his his head all over the place.

the 'official' answer is that Ruby loved JFK, so he killed Oswald as revenge for the murder of the president, but there's so many different theories that it's impossible to know for certain.
