Illegal operations come in many folds. These occur due to bad programming practices implemented in the software.

An example of how this can occur is when a program needs to access two things, it get the first one but another program has the second one. The other program won't release the second item because it wants the first.

Neither program releases their part and wants the part the other program has (this can occur in a single program too)

Typically the two parts that cause the trouble are programs trying to access your memory and your processor.

Specifics of the error will actually tell you what the problem is (really, there is someone out there that can read those things)

It doesn't mean illegal as in against the law. It means the computer cannot continue what it is doing. It is to do with the laws of computing, not in real life :)

Your computer is housing an illegal immigrant.

basically a program has done something that it shouldn't be doing, and as such the computer closes it to keep it from causing more problems. beyond that i dont know what to tell you unless you're more specific.

you probably downloaded some filesharing software like Kazaa or Morpheus, right? Nothing to be concerned about unless you are checking out kiddy porn.
