I think so! i hate watching and listening to the BBC prophets of doom. Do you remember their coverage of bird flu? Hysterical. I recall a BBC reporter flying over a pond with two poor swans in. Nervously the camera zoomed in on the birds as if they were killers. i wish one of them had sneezed.
recently i was on holiday in the Ukraine, out on a farm and away from the news. not once did i hear the words Muslim, terrorist, immigrants, fuel, zombie attack, nuclear holocaust, celebrity - and guess what? it was bliss.
turn off your telly, ignorance is really bliss.
do you remember, on the morning the SAS went into action in Afghanistan, the 'oh so concerned liberal PC BBC Breakfast time presenter asked a military expert to assure the public that the SAS were not operating a shoot to kill policy! The BBC have gone mad!

DON'T BLAME THE MESSENGER
YOU MUST BE JOKING.
The BBC puts out great programmes for all ages on their 7 uk tv channels, and on their radio channels. BBC Radio 4 itself is worth the TV licence, although you don't need one to listen to it.
Yes the BBC broadcast the news which reports on the items in your question.
WHERE COULD YOU RUN TO?
Do you think you could run from global warming, from fish stocks running out, from child abusers (don't call them paedophiles, the literal meaning of the word is someone who loves children, abusers do not love the people they abuse.) ?
Could you run from increased energy prices, and how could you leave without being a immigrant, which judging by your question, you see as a bad thing?
The BBC is a very good reason to stay in the UK. Don't blame them for the news.
Do you actually own a space station, or another planet, and means of getting to it.
Many of these things are in the news because they can affect the whole world.

Of course, we all have multimedia coming at us from all angles...and the BBC (etc) know they can't touch what we get from the net. Maybe they try too hard.
