Well you could ask the Uni? No, OK so u want to ask the ppl who know like nothing.
You don't have to pay anything now as far as i am aware, they are like STUDENT LOANS in that they are paid for by THE STUDENT LOANS COMPANY and you start to repay them as soon as you are earning a minimum of £15000 (in teaching the starting wage is £18,000 & £21,000 in London).
Or if you wish you can pay them off yourself before the term starts.

EXCEPTIONS

If you are a welsh resident and this course is not available in Wales then teh Welsh Assembly will pay for you to do this course (Top-up fees aren't applicable to Welsh students in Wales or Scottish Students in Scotland).

Although what with the lack of teachers you'd think the government would provide teaching bursaries, as it does nursing (when there aren't any jobs left b'cos all the health trusts are costcutting!!!).

I think you probably will, more often than not £3000 but each university is obliged to give back something in form of a rebate (odd ones rebate it all but shop around). I know there is a bursary available for graduates doing post grad cert in education (£6000!!!) but they do pay course fees.(covered by a loan) . The net effect should be that you end up with decent subsistence while studying but a loan of £3000 P.A accumulating

unfortunately the answer is yes if you do decide to go to university and it'll cost you £3,000 a year. i've even heard that it could rise up to £10,000 a year, which is even worse. therefore, i'd advise you to apply for university, sooner rather than later and for a student loan as soon as possible

As far as I am aware you pay the fees up front (i.e. when you start) from your loan but your loan does not become payable until you finish and start earning
