Is curling really a sport? I thought you had to sweat in the matches to be a sport.

Hey, hey, hey now...any sport that has fantasy leagues is obviously cool. In 2002, I dominated my league with Tim Somerville and Kevin Martin both on my fantasy league. For the neophytes out there, that's like having not one, but two (!) Peyton Mannings on your squad: lethally accurate and able to rack up huge points. I mean, jeez...Kevin Martin (or K-Mart, as nobody calls him) has even inspired a phrase. When someone pulls of a seemingly impossible shot (think Jordan driving the lane versus the Lakers and switching the ball from left to right in midair), people say that person "did a Martin."
There's a strong Martin-Manning correlation when you think about Martin's gaudy stats (he went 9-1!) in the 2002 Olympics...until he got what I thought was a really easy draw against Norway and totally bit it. Very disappointing.

Watched some curling in the last two Winter Olympics, its frickin' addicting! Don't ask me to explain why. I'd join a league at the my local ice-rink, but I'm too lazy. It looks like a sport in which you could participate, yet still drink a beer, and that's nice.

Give curling a try, and then you will be a curling junkie like some of the rest of us. Just the sound of granite sliding on pebbled ice is oh so sweet, let alone the sound of granite on granite.

Maybe it'll pick up during the winter... Have you ever curled??? It's a great sport, as it doesn't involve lots of running, and it does involve lots of beer (At least in our league it does)...
