Everyone has the right to have their own opinion of themselves.
Those who consider themselves tiny and insignificant probably are, and those who think that they are the center of the Universe probably live in a very small world.

Consider this, the diameter of the Milky Way Galaxy is 100,000 light years, exceeds ordinary human comprehension...right? a time interval vastly greater than all of human history. Another thousand times farther takes us to distant cluster of galaxies, but even then, that would be less than one ten-thousandths of a percent of the observable Universe. We are mere specks in an abyss of time and space.
The human psyche bends, twists or completely denies inevitable truths as a self defense mechanism. The world is flat, the Earth is the center of the universe, there is a god that will save those whom are worthy, angels are watching over you, you'll see your dead relatives in the afterlife.....etc, etc.
For those that say the Earth or humans have a pre-ordained fate ending in eternal bliss have an ineffective and distorted worldview. My guess is that only 10% of human beings are actually capable of looking at objective reality.
The Earth does not have a brain. And it definately does not have a "target" balance or pre-ordained fate that it is shooting for.
The all pervasive 2nd Law will ultimately lead to utter doom and annihilation....

It has taken life on earth 4 billion years to evolve.
The Universe is about 6 billion years old.
it took two billion years for life as we know it to be able to form.
There are many theories that state if another civilisation should exist within this galaxy than we should have picked up some kind of signal from them by now.
There are probably 700 Billion Stars in our galaxy alone. That's less than one person per 100 solar systems.
Every sentient being on this planet is vastly important, You could be rarer than a black hole, what happens to you - one of the few sentient beings in our galaxy - is possibly the whole point of the machine we call the universe.
Never underestimate how important even the smallest of us are - for we are all on the path to godhood.
All to easy...

I don't agree. Human lives are probably the most important things that exist in the universe.
The conditions required for human life developing this soon after the big bang in our galaxy, in this solar system are pretty critical and it's possible that we are in fact the only intelligent beings in the universe. I'm saying that things have developed here as fast as they possibly could have anywhere in the universe and that means even if there is other intelligent life in the universe it is probably less advanced than us.

Small, and insignificant? Yes, I agree... but we also have the power to change all of that "bs" in the world. It starts on an individual level, then moves to a collective awareness, then ultimately to a movement. But, it starts with you, and with me. So, we may be small, but we also hold the power to change the things we dislike... what have you done to change the world today?

Yup. The world may ultimately destroy itself but the universe will still be here. In the big scheme of things the worst we could do is destroy ourselves but in the end it's all gonna be ok. Kinda hard to understand where I'm coming from huh?

I believe we're a lot less important than we think, but I also think what's happening on this earth is important to us.
We, alone, have the ability to make the decisions that influence society for better or worse. It is, therefore, more wise to study our circumstances and be ready to respond to the inevitable change that continually drives our world.

Depends what mindframe you're in - sometimes I see things like that, you know what does each of us matter in the scheme of things and how difficult it must be to actually make a dent but if you think that in your everyday life you're just wasting life.
