If a man killed your mother, what would you like to see happen to him?

OK I think yes it can be justified. There are some crimes that cannot be forgiven..like treason. Also why should the public support people who have crossed the line for the rest of their lives. If someone has done a very black deed then to not remove them from this world is cowerdice as it gives them a chance to escape or be released and commit the crime again which makes the people who didn't put the criminal down just as accountable.

I am not saying we should kill more criminals...well actually yeah I think we should kill more to be honest. Some are never gonna change and as such they should be put down like a rabid dog. Being a con or excon wouldn't be so "glorious" to gangs and such if you executed them.

Sometimes mistakes will be made and that is regretable but we seem to be ok with people who are mistakenly put away for 30 years and then oops, sorry...so to me it is same thing

I am in favor of the death penalty only in the case of terrorists, and this is only because there have been instances where the jailed person is used as leverage to conduct more acts of terror in hopes of gaining the release of the prisoner. If the person was killed, that would be out of the equation.

Now, in the case of anyone else, I am not in favor of the death penalty. First, it is final. There have been more than a few instances where a person was executed, then found not guilty. You can't overturn death, no matter what you do. And if you think a few deaths don't matter, what if it was you in the chair? Second, it costs more money to execute someone than it does to keep them in prison for the remainder of their natural lives. I know that is absurd, but it happens to be true. I don't want to spend 1 extra cent on a murderer. Life in prison is cheaper, and you don't ever have to let them out. Third, it does not deter crime--the rate of violent crime has not decreased since it was reinstated in this country. Fourth, it does not reverse the harm this person has already caused. The victims are still dead, and the family is still destroyed. Fifth, we claim to be a society which values life. You don't do this by destroying it. (#5 is a weak argument, I know)...

Well...if you are christian (which im not) they teach about an eye for an eye. And that is exactly what this country is based on. You kill someone in cold blood..I think you deserve the same treatment that you showed the victim. The people in prison are not victims, and when they commit heinous crimes, they need something ot be scared about, not just sent to their room.

Yes. Everyone that commits a crime should be held accountable. An eye for an eye and all that. If you murder someone, you should die. Flat out. If you steal from someone, you should be penalized also.

for murders absolutely! Was it justifiable when that man/woman killed those other people... I heard once this man was on death row for killing 2 taxi drivers.. he was sentenced to death... he appealed it saying the death penalty was "cruel and unusual punishment" but I guess it wasn't "cruel and unusual punishment" when he killed those 2 taxi drivers....He lost by the way.. he will die for his crimes
