My wife took a pregnancy test Sunday and it had 2 lines; one line rather faint. This morning she took another, 2 lines, one line a little darker. What are the odds of her being pregnant? I am very excited, I just do not want to get my hopes up. (2 lines = pregnant) Please help.

Prenancy tests are VERY accurate - I would say she is pregnant.
The explaination for the line being lighter the first time is that from the moment you become pregnant, your body begins producing hCG, the pregnancy hormone. This hormone doubles every 36 to 48 hours as your pregnancy progresses, reaching its peak at 8-10 weeks. Chances are she had trace hCG the first time she tested and it has increased which is why the line was darker the 2nd time.

Congrats and Good Luck!

A positive line is a positive line, no matter how faint. The fact that she got two positive tests is even better. Congratulations!!

If your wife hasn't already, have her make an appointment with her OB. Early prenatal care is so important. She should also start taking prenatal vitamins today - if she's not already taking them. The folic acid is so important in the early fetal development.

Best wishes for a happy and healthy baby!

99% of the time, any line....no matter how faint or dark means you have a positive test. With my current pregnancy...you could barely see the line....and it was still positive. I think she should make an appointment with the doctor for a confirmation appointment. Good Luck!

The doctor told me that if there is any kind of a second line at all...then its positive...the pregnancy hormone HAS to be in your system in order for the test to even read it and put that line on there...if the pregnancy hormone were not in your system...then the second line wouldn't show up at all...

She's pregnant! Congratulations! If there is even the faintest second line, it means pregnant. You cannot have a false positive. Make a doctors appointment. Best of luck!

2 lines no matter what color they are.... PREGNANT! those tests are rarely wrong. She should call her Dr. and have the test confirmed with a blood test to be sure.

congrats!

She's preggers! Congratulations!!!
You should make sure she goes to the doctor for a blood test just to make absolute sure but I would say with 99.9% certainty that she is pregnant.
