Those people had to earn it themselves even if they were born into that life their family still had to earn it.The choice is there for most people but many people just dont have the drive and motivation to work hard and make allot of money.Allot of people who make allot of money are greedy and selfish and thats how they got so much money in the first place by being a tight a*ss.Ive read stories about rich people who believed that making allot of money would bring them happiness but all it brought them was comfortable living but not the inner happiness they were searching for.Ive decided that i dont want to be really rich or anything i just want to earn enough money to be able to have some fun in life and thats it.The truth is that it doesnt matter how big your bank balance is when you die it will all amount to zero in the end so just have fun but dont be a greedy tight a*ss because that will not bring anybody happiness.

A working stiff like the rest of us. He wouldn't have been accepted to Yale. He was turned down to UT-Austin. He probably would have been a oil worker (and not a particularly good one at that)

Interesting question!
Because he was born in New Haven, CT, he wouldn't be likely to pursue ranching and wildcatting like he did in Texas.
A lot really depends on what kind of family he would have grown up in. Working Class, Middle Class, Civil Servant, etc.
I'd have to say he would've ended up doing something such as Fireman or Policeman.
It strokes the ego, allows a semblance of control and would likely have been a fair match for his skillset.
