The book is was way better, and it is because some people always feel like the clown is hiding something..evil comes in friendly forms.

Serial killer John Wayne Gacy used to dress as a clown. In fact, he used to paint pictures of them when he was in prison.

I myself am not scared of clowns, but I have an irrational fear of ventriloquist dummies because of the movie "Magic".

for a little child to see a clown who claims to be funny but has a deformed face with a huge mouth, a white face, and a red nose, it is super scary. They look like monsters really.

for me its the eyes. That huge grin that never quite reaches their eyes, looks malicious. Or maybe they're haveing a hard day, adn have irritated angry eyes, but the smile never goes away, so they look evil. That must be it, because the sad hobo clowns arent scary

I think it's because you can't really see the person behind the make-up. What are they hiding? And like a lot of people, they present a friendly persona, but sometimes there is a back stabber behind the smile.

I don't know. Maybe it's the distorted faces. I have never been afraid of clowns, so I'm not certain.

Actually they are more annoying, than scary :)
