I doubt there is a BEST age to change careers. The decision to make the change should be based on the answers to a few questions, like:
Are you dissatisfied in your current career?
Is there another career that interests you?
Can you make a plan to enact the career change without suffering terribly financially?
If the answers are yes, then it's probably a good age to make the career change!

There isn't a best age but it is advisable to do it early on in your career if you will need a lot of retraining in your new career. A lot of people change careers after a lifestyle change (ie having a baby, after going travelling etc).

I change career when I was 38. Retrenchment made me moved from corporate work to MLM. So the saying goes...Necessity is the mother of invention...

When you're ready. It's seems early to mid thirties is a good time though as you're not too old for employers to see a future for you with them. If you're unhappy with what you're doing it's well worth to do a change.
