I have a lot of video files that I would like to burn onto DVDs, what program can I download that would let me do this? I have Nero and some other thing, but they only allow me to make data discs. I want to be able to watch the files on a DVD player, not just my computer.

If you need that DVD to play on your regular dvd player, then it's difficult and complicated process.

You can go to dvdrhelp.com/videohelp.com to see if there is some free software out there that can convert whatever format these movies you downloaded from the web into a standard DVD video format which is MPEG-2 720x480.

It gets complicated because it depends on the resolution and quality and type of format your movies are in. If your downloaded movie is of bad quality and resolution, putting it on DVD will look horrible. Something that looks great on your PC may not look great on your TV as you play that DVD.

Looks for something like converting avi/wmv/mov/mpeg to dvd in the site above.

The important part here is that don't expect what you download to look good on your TV all the time. It all depends on the format of your source material and the quality of your source material.

If it's Xvid or DivX, I think there are some trial software tha you can download to try and see if it's what you want.

I have used ConvertXtoDVD and that seemed to work very well. All of that information can be found at the above mentioned site and just do a search in the forum or try the convert section.

First... do you have a dvd BURNER? (required to make DVDs)

THEN: READ your NERO manual. If you have a dvd burner, it WILL burn DVD movies, BUT you would first have to decode them and store them on the computer. (NERO checks the disc, and will NOT let you copy a copyrighted movie directly, since that is Illegal!!)

There are many good "decrypter" programs available on the web that can put your movie on your hard drive in a format that Nero can read.

Personally, I would buy a program such as "1click" dvd copier, and then download a decrypter. (They are NOT included for legal reasons!)

BE sure you have a LARGE HD, as movies take up a LOT of space during conversion and copying!

You can create a "Video CD" with most of today's CD burning software.
(Not the same as a DVD)
Uses a regular blank CD-R.

A Video CD, or VCD, will work on most DVD players.

I don't think you can create a VCD with just ANY type of video file, I think it would have to be converted to an mgeg2 or mpeg4.

Good Luck
And Happy Surfing!

You want to burn videos like MPEG / WMV / AVI to DVD. correct?
I use a program called ConvertXtoDVD, here's what you should do:

1. Download ConvertXtoDVD here: http://www.burner-software.com/AVI-to-DVD-Converter/Convert-AVI-Divx-MPEG-to-DVD.html
[ It can convert any video file like avi or mpeg to dvd ]

2. Add or drag-n-drop as many video files as you want

3. Insert blank DVD

4. Click Convert

It will convert your video files to a dvd format readable by your dvd player, then burn automatically to DVD.

it is easy to use, fast and it works! you'll love it =)

A program exists that will do what you want fairly easily. It's called "Sonic MyDVD", and you can read about it and get it at the below link.
